Celebrating Moments

One of the benefits of an Explorer Advisor is witnessing the growth of people. Sometimes it is witnessing someone achieve a goal, other times it is watching a person grow in character. This time of year many are celebrating academic achievements and some career progression. We celebrate these monumental achievements and rightfully so. I want to highlight the importance of moments. The moments are where the consistent decisions are made to keep stepping forward towards a goal. It happens everyday we wake, multiple times a day, giving us an opportunity to move forward. It does not mean that we walk perfect at every point of decision it just means that we practice in making the right decision so that the moments lead to something monumental in our lives. Those monuments we have in our lives serves as a reminder that the moment we are in is an opportunity to make another decision. These moments lead to monuments that create a movement.

I want to take this time to celebrate a few individuals who have made some accomplishments. Generally in the past I have written these through emails but these individuals have given me permission to share. The first is Natalie M. who recently received her EMT certificate. The certificate requires a completion of an EMT course and passing a test through the National Registry. Natalie is going on two years with the Explorer program and has shown her commitment to pursing a career in the fire service. She has made sacrifices to achieving her goal and she has accomplished a required certificate for EMS. Congratulations Natalie and we look forward to seeing your success in your endeavor.

The second person is Keanu I. Keanu has been with the Explorer program for close to 5 years. He has shown a tremendous amount of dedication to his goal through his consistency in the program and his willingness to take advice. Keanu has already achieved his EMT certificate and recently graduated from RIO Hondo Fire Academy. His character is rightfully reflected through his actions and acknowledged by his instructors. Keanu not only successfully completed the Fire Academy, but was also the recipient of the "Dedication and Motivation" award that is decided by the entire instructional staff. Congratulations Keanu, we celebrate you and your achievement.
